Edward J. Harshman, MD
Dr. Harshman practices alone in an upscale office in a residential neighborhood. Respectful of other physicians' knowledge and opinions, he nevertheless appeals to the cost conscious or uninsured patient because of his careful reasoning and his reliance on questioning and physical exams.
HIPAA-exempt (yes, it's legal), Dr. Harshman's office has the old-fashioned ambiance that predated modern insurance regulations--though he does accept MaineCare, motor vehicle insurance, most PPO insurance, and credit cards. He is the doctor-hater's doctor.
A spinal-cord injury survivor, Dr. Harshman is interested in the management of major disabilities. He also tries to create and invent assistive devices to deal with unavoidable loss of function and to use non-narcotic measures to relieve pain.
